Typically Hockey Night in Canada is on Saturdays. But here at True North it is on Thursday. It’s a very important day as Sean, Hugh and myself all play on the same team and whether we win or lose will affect the general mood of the shop come Friday. Friday is also an important day; it’s the end of the work week after all and if we want to leave for the weekend in a good mood, it’s very important that we do well at hockey on Thursday evening.

Which brings us to today. I’ve taken to reminding people to stay off their legs on Thursdays. This is easy for Sean (he spends a lot of time at the computer making sure everything runs smoothly) but a little harder for Hugh (it is somewhat difficult to make frames without standing and walking around a fair amount). I bought these rubber mats a few weeks ago that are supposed to make standing on concrete a little more forgiving. Up until now I have been hoarding them in the assembly area but i think i might spread them out around the shop so that anywhere Hugh might be standing is just a little bit more plush.

Happy legs equals more jump come game time, which results in winning more battles for the puck. This in turn means we have more chances to score which greatly increases our odds at winning and should we win; it’s clear sailing into the weekend. Building a bike frame is quite similar. If you do a lot of little things right, the end product is a well built frame. If you neglect the process, then the end result suffers.

Here we have a set of braze-ons on a S and S coupler equipped frame. Why halfway up the seat stays you ask? This bike will be equipped with a Nitto R14 rack which will fold up and fit in the hard case with the bike.

We also started work on Jennie’s new lugged cross frame this week. A lot of time was spent on these lugs and the frame is going to look amazing when it’s finished.

Here is a shot of the top tube/seat tube junction on another frame we are working on. No shortage of amazing lugged frames in the shop this week.

Sean has been busy working on a bunch of 29er forks. If we’re going to need a several identical forks for upcoming builds it makes more sense to build them all at the same time.
